Implementation Plan of Academic Staff's CPD Programme

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) addresses the need for lifelong and continuous learning. The primary objective of CPD for the academic community is to maintain and enhance existing technical and professional skills in order to better meet changing responsibilities and expectations.

Malaysia Education Blueprint 2015 - 2025 (Higher Education)

CADe-Lead is responsible for driving the professional development of academic staff in teaching and learning (T& L) with the ultimate goal of implementing best practices in T&L and curriculum development, T&L innovation and also Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).

In order to empower professional developments among UPM academic staff in the Industrial Revolution (IR) 4.0, CADe-Lead has devised a transformation of the training program of academic staff categorized into the Induction Program and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program, as follows:

  • The induction program provides new academics during their initial critical period with a systematic professional and personal (mentor) support to expand in the new work environment. This program helps lecturers to improve knowledge and skills in teaching and learning of higher education, especially to adapt to academic ecosystems at UPM.

  • The CPD program provides ongoing training to improve knowledge, skills and competencies as lecturers and masters through lifelong learning culture. This program is able to impact and bring changes to the T&L proficiency and capability level.
