    SULAM
    12
    How is SULAM implemented?

SULAM is implemented through credit-bearing courses that are structured to engage students in activities designed to address community needs. At the end of the activities, students reflect on their experiences in providing services to the community. These activities, which involve students working directly with the community, are conducted to achieve at least one course learning outcome.

    13
What are the basic characteristics of SULAM?

The basic characteristics of SULAM are:

  • At least one course learning outcome is achieved through activities that involve students working with the community.
  • Activities are carried out over a significant period of time, meaning a duration considered sufficient for students and the community to collaborate in successfully carrying out an activity together. This period may include structured and planned preparation and planning activities for a project, programme, or event involving students and the community. In other words, SULAM activities are not one-off activities.
  • Students’ activities with the community are assessed and graded.
