MEETING THE CHALLENGES OF 21ST CENTURY ACADEMIC ADVISING 23 December 2021 (Thursday) / 10.00 am - 11.00 am   Speaker: Prof. Dr. Rozanah Ab. Rahman School of Business and Economics, UPM   Moderator: Dr. Saira Kharuddin School of Business and Economics, UPM     An academic advisor will guide students to make the best decisions based on their majors and provide information as well as options to help them progress in accordance with the educational plan. In addition, most times, the academic advisor is also required to give the needed motivational support for students throughout their academic years. When advising students, an advisor must have adequate knowledge on various academic issues to ensure the right advice can be shared. As we move into the 21st century, the different norms and diversity of students pose new challenges and requirements for universities including in academic advising.     At the end of the session, participants will be able to:   Understand the importance of academic advising; Understand on the challenges found in academic advising; and Engage in effective academic advising activities with students.
